What is...
The Knowledge-Driven International Development (KDID) Portal is a family of websites established to maximize the effectiveness of development assistance by connecting development practitioners through learning opportunities and spreading innovation and good practice.
KDID Portal sites are vibrant communities where members discuss ideas, share experience, connect to other professionals, and access the latest thinking in best practice. They are designed to ensure that knowledge on what works in development is effectively captured and shared among practitioners so it can be applied to projects, programs, and USAID Mission efforts.
Microlinks captures new learning in microenterprise development, disseminates it among practitioners, USAID mission staff, and other donors, and connects those actors to each other in order to improve development outcomes around the world.
The Good Practice Center (GPC) conveys a clear intellectual framework and packages tools, resources, and experience from the Library and the Learning Marketplace to provide guidance for practical application. A vetted, growing compendium, the GPC relies on your feedback to continue to expand and respond to the emerging challenges practitioners face.
Visit the Good Practice Center to explore the Introduction to Pro-Poor Financial Services and the Value Chain Development Wiki.
The Library is a rich repository of microenterprise development publications, presentations, web resources, and media to search, filter, bookmark, comment on, and rate.
The Learning Marketplace is the peer networking and activity hub of Microlinks. Browse Events for popular Microlinks features such as Speakers Corner, Breakfast and After Hours Seminars, and Webinars. Read and contribute to Notes From the Field.
The Speakers Corner is a 3-day, lively online discussion that brings together professionals from across the world each month to share ideas, debate approaches and learn about new tools and resources to improve practice. Guided by leading experts, discussions address pertinent microenterprise development issues.
The USAID After Hours Seminar Series addresses hot topics in microfinance. Sponsored by the Microenterprise Development office, it’s designed to be a casual, yet focused, sharing of timely research and new developments in microfinance. Join us in person or online to meet up with microfinance professionals to learn more about the latest thinking in microfinance initiatives.
The USAID Breakfast Seminar Series is a monthly in-person and online event sponsored by USAID's Microenterprise Development office. Come in person and enjoy coffee and a bagel or join us online to stay connected with the latest research on Value Chains conducted by USAID and its partners.
The USAID Emerging Payment Systems (EPS) Seminar Series facilitates knowledge sharing on key legal, regulatory, cultural, enforcement, security, and information technology (IT) issues related to emerging payment systems, including (but not restricted to) mobile financial services, with a special emphasis on safeguarding systemically important payment systems. Please attend in person, join the webinar, participate in online discussions, and access documents through our expanding library.
Notes From the Field are brief stories relating an experience or lesson learned while conducting a microfinance or enterprise development project. Notes are featured throughout Microlinks, as well as in the Connections newsletter. Notes From the Field are an excellent way for practitioners to share stories and best practices with others in the microenterprise field.
